Dialog Wimax internet

Dialog Broadband Networks (DBN) today announced the provision of WiMAX (World Interoperability for Microwave Access) Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services to selected pilot customers in Hambantota, Matara, Galle, Kurunagala, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. The company aims to roll-out coverage to other districts of Sri Lanka over the next few months.
Chief Operating Officer of Dialog Broadband Networks Upali Gajanaike paid tribute to the vision and direction of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) with respect to the facilitation of the country’s first WiMAX implementation, "the progressive technology adoption policies of the TRCSL has once again resulted in a key milestone for Sri Lanka. Following close on the launch of the region’s first 3G service, the launch of pilot WiMAX services in collaboration with several commercial entities, gives Sri Lanka a headstart in the delivery of Broadband Wireless Access Services".
Amadeus Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, World Vision and Hotels Corporation are among the technology pioneers who have joined Dialog Broadband in the pilot launch of WiMAX services in Sri Lanka.
Describing the benefits of Broadband Wireless Access using WiMAX technology, Vajira Jayasinghe, Chief Technology Officer of Dialog Broadband Networks had this to say: "WiMAX provides Broadband Internet access across the footprint of the wireless network, enabling anywhere-anytime access to high speed broadband".
While emphasizing that DBN’s implementation was at the stage of a commercial pilot and extensive expansion of services would take place later in the year, he went on to elaborate on the benefits this pioneering technology will offer Sri Lankan consumers in the near future "WiMAX is capable of delivering a host of end-user services while optimising the resources of the service provider. A key attribute of WiMAX is its higher throughput 10Mb/s, the service is Internet Protocol based and supports a quality of service, which allows the delivery of multimedia services on a single connection. WiMAX is a wireless standard that has the proven ability to deliver true broadband data speeds and help make the vision of pervasive connectivity a reality, and while going forward, play a key role in bridging the digital divide in Sri Lanka, bringing connectivity and information within the reach of everyone".
